Michigan State Police investigating incident of purse stolen from vehicle

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Mich. – Michigan State Police troopers are investigating a larceny from a motor vehicle that happened at 5 p.m. Wednesday evening.

The victim of the theft was mowing a field on Nottawa Road near Wasepi Road in St. Joseph County and had her vehicle parked at the edge of the field while she was working.

Her 13- and 11-year-old sons were inside the vehicle. 

The suspect stopped his vehicle on Nottawa Road and approached the two children in the vehicle. He scared the children, who then got out of the vehicle to alert their mother.

The suspect then stole the victim’s purse from the vehicle, reports said.

The suspect is described as a white male between the ages of 30 to 40 and was wearing a white t-shirt, brown shorts, and a black, beret-style hat. He also had tattoos on his arms, neck, and face.

The suspect was driving a small white passenger car with rust along the bottom and was last seen driving southbound on Nottawa Road.
