Michigan State Police looking for ‘Angel’ volunteers
PAW PAW, Mich. – The Michigan State Police, Paw Paw Post is looking for volunteers to participate in its Angel Program.
The Angel Program lets people who are struggling with addiction walk into any police post and ask for help without fear of arrest or investigation.
Angel volunteers then help police find the appropriate treatment option and help transport the person in need to a treatment center.
Volunteers are reimbursed for mileage and meal expenses and receive an hourly stipend once they reach 20 hours of service.
Angels will be trained by police for the program.
The MSP Angel Program is supported by the Police Assisted Addiction and Recovery Initiative (P.A.A.R.I.).
Volunteer training will begin in September with the Paw Paw Post.
