BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich.— Michigan State Police are collecting donations to help benefit Special Olympic athletes in the area by participating in a Polar Plunge on Saturday, February 1.
Michigan State Police Trooper Scott Wehler and Tim McDaniel from Special Olympics Michigan were live in ABC57’s studio on Thursday to discuss the event and how the community can get involved.
The money raised goes directly to helping local athletes compete at multiple levels.
“This is how they go to games at local and state levels. Without that money they cannot attend those things,” Trooper Wehler said.
Plunging starts at noon on February 1 at Watermark Brewing Company in Stevensville.
Donations are being collected online for the event. For more information about the fundraiser, visit the team’s website.
