Michigan Works! hosting major hiring event

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. -- Michigan Works! is hosting the first Main Street Hiring event to help solve the staffing shortage issues hitting local businesses.

The group's second major hiring event of the summer is looking to emulate the success of the one they held in June.

"Our June hiring event was a success, bringing together twenty-six employers and over one hundred-forty job seekers," said Mark O'Reilly, the Director of Business Solutions at Michigan Works! Berrien, Cass, Van Buren.  "We're excited to bring another hiring event to southwest Michigan that will feature local employers from various sizes and industries."

The second event will take place on Wednesday, August 3 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Michigan Works! Training Center located at 499 West Main Street in Benton Harbor.

Interested individuals should arrive with an updated resume and ready for interviews.

Michigan Works! also offers services to help prepare for the event.

"We would also like to encourage individuals who would like to attend this hiring event to stop into one of our Michigan Works! centers in the days or weeks prior to the event to polish their resume, write a cover letter, and even sit through some mock interviews to brush up on their skills," said O'Reilly.

Participants are encouraged to pre-register their attendance.

Employers looking to have a table at the hiring event at no cost should contact Michael Mompremier at [email protected]
