Mild, windy Wednesday with evening rain
Wednesday is mild and breezy with rain showers by evening. Temperatures this morning are in the upper 30s to low 40s. By afternoon, temperatures climb into the low 50s. The rain in today's forecast isn't until the evening, so you have a chance to get outside and enjoy the mild temperatures while staying dry.
Wind gusts 35 - 40 mph are possible today, so temperatures may feel a little cooler. Make sure any outdoor holiday inflatables are secure from wind.
Most of today is dry- rain will start after about 5 PM.
Temperatures will tank overnight. Most precipitation falls before the big drop in temperatures, so while there may be a few snowflakes early Thursday morning, there isn't going to be much of an accumulation.
Tomorrow's high temperature is much cooler, just 24 degrees. Thursday evening our attention turns to lake effect snow. Snow showers continue into early Christmas morning. Highest snow totals are in our Michigan and northernmost Indiana counties. 2 - 3" of snow is possible by Friday morning in these areas. Snow totals are lower as you head to the south, in fact, parts of our southernmost counties may not see any snow.
While you may or may not have a white Christmas depending on where you live in Michiana, one thing is certain - it will be a cold Christmas for all of us.
