Deputies identify four people killed in crash on Miller Road in Buchanan

BUCHANAN, Mich. -- Four people were killed in a crash on Miller Road at N. Main Street Friday around noon, according to the Berrien County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies say a 2007 Ford Fusion was traveling on Miller Road when it is believed to have disregarded the stop sign at N. Main Street. It struck a southbound 2000 Honda Accord.

The driver and passenger of the Ford Fusion were both injured. One was transported to the hospital via helicopter, the other was transported via ambulance.

All four people in the Honda Accord were killed. They have been identified as 66-year-old Robert Klint, 52-year-old Kent Williamson, 60-year-old Melissa Klint and 22-year-old Landyn Klint.

One of the vehicles involved in the collision struck a parked car at a home near the intersection.

"My boyfriend says almost daily that somebody is going to get killed here one day because people drive 60 to 70 miles per hour," Kerry Singleton said.

The Berrien County Road Department said they will analyze the intersection to see what could be done to make it safer.

"This intersection will be looked at in high detail to see how and why the accident may have occurred and if there's anything we could do to engineer solutions," Berrien County Road Department Director Jason Latham said.

Deputies say speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the investigation.
