Miniature home stolen from parking lot

IMPERIAL, MO (KTVI) – (Joe Millitzer) -- Jefferson County Sheriff deputies are looking for some house thieves. But not the kind who break in. They actually stole a miniature house mounted on a trailer.

The 13 foot tall and 12 foot long house is a rolling display of the work done by an Imperial siding and roofing contractor. J H Exteriors kept its trademark parked on at its business in the 6500 block of Highway 61-67 in Imperial.

Owner Josh Hudson said the display had become a landmark on the highway.

'I wanted to build it to show the quality of the craftsmanship we can offer to our homeowners,' he explained. The small building exhibits siding, gutters, windows, a door and roofing shingles used by the family owned business.

Hudson pulls the display in local parades, even decorating it with Christmas lights for a holiday parade.

"We go to the Apple Butter Festival in Kimmswick, the Strawberry Festival, St. Louis Home and Garden Show and the Arnold Home and Garden Show,' he said.

Hudson estimates the display is worth $9,000 - $10,000 and the promotional materials stored inside another $4,000 - $5,000.

'I work hard for what I have, why can`t you. Just return it,' Hudson appealed to the thieves. He is promising a $500 reward for its return or information leading to the return.
