Minnesota could approve same-sex marriage

Minnesota voted yes to allow same-sex marriage Thursday.

This happens just one year to the day since President Obama announced his support for gay and lesbian couples' right to wed.

Earlier in the week, Delaware and Rhode Island approved their own legislation in favor of same-sex marriage.

If Minnesota follows suit, it would be the first Midwest state to do so.

"I believe in the people here," said same-sex marriage supporter Kristen Schweiloch. "I believe people want equal rights for all citizens."

The bill now moves to the state senate. They will vote on Monday.
