Mishawaka Fire Department holding open house Wednesday for Fire Prevention Week

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- The National Fire Prevention Association is celebrating Fire Prevention Awareness Week from Oct. 6 to Oct. 12 and this year's campaign, "Smoke Alarms: Make Them Work For You!" is centered around educating everyone on the importance of having working smoke alarms in the home.

In conjunction with FPW, the Mishawaka Fire Department is holding an open house event on Wednesday, Oct. 9, at Station #4.

"We also hope you’ll bring the family to come see us this Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Station #4 on Harrison Road," fire officials said. "Age matters when it comes to smoke alarms. All smoke alarms need to be replaced when they are 10 years old or if they don’t respond when tested."

Mishawaka Fire Department Station #4 is located at 3000 Harrison Road. For more information, call (574) 257-0620.
