MISHAWAKA, Ind. - Through one of the best seasons in Mishawaka football's history, the Cavemen went all the way until Semi-State before falling to an Indiana team.
Unfortunately, that 24-6 loss to Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger on Friday ended Mishawaka's dream season under first-year head coach Keith Kinder. Although he was disappointed in the loss, Kinder ensured his players kept perspective on what was accomplished over the past few months.
"It's a really special group. It's one that's going to go down in Mishawaka history as one of the best teams in school history," he said after the loss. "They wanted a little bit more, but here's the thing. If this is the worst thing that happens to them, they're going to have a pretty good life. They had a really good year. I'm sad I don't get to coach them tomorrow."
