MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- The Mishawaka Penn Harris Public Library is hosting a week-long celebration of Juneteenth, the holiday marking the end of slavery in the United States.
And the library has a new traveling exhibit called 'Groundbreaking Black Hoosiers' on display and open to the public.
The exhibit will highlight the contributions African American families and leaders have made throughout Indiana history, paving the way for future generations living here today.
"There's a lot of historical information available while visiting the traveling exhibit. And we also have on display a Powell family tribute cabinet that really highlights the Powell family, and they were one of the first African American families to have arrived in Mishawaka," stated M.P.H.P.L. Director of Operational Services Dena Wargo.
The 'Groundbreaking Black Hoosiers' Exhibit will be on display until June 21 in Mishawaka.
