Mishawaka Lions Club donates $1,000 to Mishawaka Food Pantry

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- A local food pantry got a big boost that came with a few extra zeroes!

The Mishawaka Lions Club passed over a $1,000 check to the Mishawaka Food Pantry Thursday morning.

Last year, the pantry served more than 23,000 people.

But this year, it lost 40 percent of its budget from federal grant cuts.

So what can the pantry make with the big check?

"Usually you can provide a full meal for about a dollar and seventy four cents. so there's that any people then that we can provide a whole meal for," said Mike Hayes of the Mishawaka Food Pantry.

The Mishawaka Food Pantry was formerly known as the Penn Township Pantry. It just switched names this year.
