Mishawaka Olive Garden delivers lunch to first responders at four locations
On this Labor Day, free meals for first responders.
The Olive Garden in Mishawaka made lunches and headed to four different locations on Monday.
Culinary manager, Randy Salazar, is in charge of personally delivering pasta dishes and he says the first stop was the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center Emergency Room.
"They appreciate it because they’re always working really hard and they’re always on call. When they see us come in, it’s like, ‘They’re here again this year!’ We try to do the emergency rooms also. I know they can't really stop and sit down so we just drop it off and say 'hey, thanks a lot,' and they really appreciate it. Last year, we had one of the hospital staff come up and hug us. It's really great," says Salazar.
First responders at St. Joe's Fire Department, Mishawaka Police Department, and the Union Station Fire Department also got a free lunch today.
Olive Garden restaurants across the country have been doing this for 15 years.
