ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - Two beloved Michiana Memorial Day parades will return to the area in 2023 after taking a hiatus in recent years. 

The Mishawaka Memorial Day parade, held in downtown Mishawaka each year, returns this year after being cancelled in 2022 for construction downtown.

More details about the parade will be announced in the coming months.

Also returning is South Bend's West Side Memorial Day parade, which was cancelled in 2021 due to COVID and in 2022 due to a lack of volunteers.

The parade steps off at 8:15 a.m. on May 29 at Lombardy and Ford streets.

Parade organizers are now accepting applications for floats, bands and marchers.

The 2023 parade theme will be announced after the next parade board meeting on March 7.
