MISHAWAKA, Ind. – A recent Mishawaka High School graduate received a national scholarship to help her attend college.
The student, Rachel Gomez, was awarded $10,000 from the 2020 Hacer National Scholarship from McDonald’s.
The scholarship is geared towards helping Hispanic students pursue higher education.
The virtual ceremony was held over Zoom with local restaurant owners.
Gomez was also awarded a tech pack that included a laptop and some of the tools that she will need to succeed in a virtual learning environment during the pandemic.
Gomez is an incoming freshman at Holy Cross College in Notre Dame.
