Mishawaka Summerfest bigger than ever

MISHAWAKA, Ind. — The Mishawaka Summerfest is bigger than ever this year.

In honor of the festival's 30th anniversary, the city of Mishawaka is offering 30 distinct events and attractions.

Some of the events include a kids zone, historic bus tours and racing pigs.

Directors hope this year's crowd will be larger than before.

"The last couple of years a lot of people tried to do the 'staycation' and we noticed an increase in numbers even more," said Mishawaka Parks and Recreation office manger Michelle Watchring. "This year we have fireworks on Friday and Saturday so we're kind of hoping that we'll have an even better draw."

Saturday night's fireworks start at dusk.
