MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- The Mishawaka VA Clinic honored the work of the late former Congresswoman Jackie Walorski today, Aug. 16, during their Vet Fest celebration.
Tomorrow, Aug. 17, will be Walorski's third birthday since passing.
Speakers at the event included Mishawaka Mayor Dave Wood and Congressman Rudy Yakym among others.
They spoke on Walorski's drive to serve veterans in the community, and how they want to continue to do so to honor her legacy.
"But Jackie, represented everything that is good about politics. She so showed us that public service can be an honorable and noble pursuit, and nowhere did that shine through more than when she went to bat on behalf of the veterans who served this country," stated Yakym.
The VA also detailed their services to local veterans, including health care enrollment, toxic exposure screenings, and the Indy Honor Flight Program.
