Mishawaka woman arrested after man was allegedly struck by car
MISHAWAKA, Ind. - The Mishawaka Police Department arrested a woman early Sunday morning after they say they located a man with injuries indicating that he was struck by a vehicle she was driving.
The call originally came in just after midnight regarding a domestic dispute at a home in the 1900 block of E 4th Street.
26-year-old Evelyn Cross-Malone reported to police she was assaulted by a man, 46-year-old Dorian Harris.
Cross-Malone also told dispatch that Harris took her phone and left on foot. She then followed Harris so that she could retrieve her phone.
Police then arrived at the intersection of 4th and Home Streets where they found Cross-Malone standing outside a Ford Fusion car.
Officers then located Harris near the curbside of the road, and there they found him with a severely broken leg and spinal injuries. He was transported to the hospital and is being reported in serious condition.
The St. Joseph County Fatal Crash Team has been activated to take over the investigation.
Evelyn Cross-Malone was arrested and booked into the St. Joseph County Jail on preliminary suspicion of Operating a Vehicle while Intoxicated Causing Serious Bodily Injury and Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated.
Her arrest has been referred to the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office.
No formal criminal charges have been filed at this time.
