ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. – Halloween is just a couple of days away, and to help everyone get in on the fun, Mishawaka Parks and Recs is holding a family-friendly event Saturday, Oct. 24 with safety in mind.
The fifth annual Halloween Spooktacular Trunk or Treat will take place at the Riverwalk in Central Park. The event is open to the public; however, this year will be different.
Over 50 vendors are signed up to take part in the fifth annual Halloween Spooktacular Trunk or Treat, organizers are asking that the public follow some safety measures when they come out to the event Saturday.
Vendors will hand out candy in bags, so kids won’t grab it themselves, or they’ll use an optional alternative, such as the candy chute that will be provided by organizers to promote further social distancing.
Masks are required and organizers ask that if you plan on attending you move clockwise around the Riverwalk since they won’t have a designated spot to start or finish and they want the event to run smoothly.
“We are requiring masks and obviously were encouraging who aren’t in the same families to stay six feet apart. And I would recommend bringing a plastic bag of some sort for the amount of candy the kids will be collecting,” Clare Kopec, the Mishawaka Parks, and Recs community Center Director said.
The event runs from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24.
