Missing person's case leads detectives to body found in bag
WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ind. -- In the process of investigating a missing person’s case, authorities discovered a body hidden in a bag in Washington County.
Indiana State Police detectives from the Sellersburg Post and the Washington County Sheriff’s Department were searching for a man reported missing since Oct.20, 2018, Jacob Ray Dodson.
22-year-old Dodson from Campbellsburg, Indiana was last seen in Washington County on Oct. 20, 2018, according to friends and family.
Officials questioned 47-year-old Jerry Lee Carson Jr., who had been known as an associate of Dodson, police say.
After Carson Jr. spoke to officials, he was placed under arrest by ISP and charged with False Informing and Obstruction of Justice and incarcerated at Washington County Jail.
During the investigation, authorities learned of a property of interest in the case, obtaining a search warrant for the mobile home located at 4031 Wheeler Hollow Road in Washington County, Indiana.
Officers discovered a duffel bag stashed underneath the abandoned mobile home, reports say.
The bag contained a body which was identified by the Washington County Coroner’s Office as Dodson.
An autopsy is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 28 to determine a cause of death.
The investigation into the death is ongoing.
Pending autopsy results the status of the investigation could change, officials say.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Department, Prosecutor’s Office and Coroner’s Office assisted in the investigation.
