Morris Performing Arts Center honored with national award

The Morris Performing Arts Center in South Bend received the 2015 Outstanding Historic Theatre Award from The League of Historic American Theatres.

The award is given to historic theaters that demonstrate excellence in community impact quality of programs and services, and quality of physical restoration.

"With over $25 million in renovations and restoration since 2000, including $8 million from residents' private donations, the Morris Performing Arts Center has been able to renew the spirit of this important space," executive director Dennis Andres said in a press release. "We're proud to receive this prestigious award, which reflects the commitment South Bend has shown to the preserve this historic landmark and maintain the Morris as a thriving community showcase."
