Mother nature is not stopping the fun at Swiss Valley Ski Area
JONES, Mich. -- The weather has been a rollercoaster this fall, and winter is heading our way in full force! Snow Skiers are gearing up for the frosty season and so is Swiss Valley Ski Area.
The Ski destination deals with the weather with one fix, snow guns. These big machines pump out snow if the weather is low in temp and humidity. The guns can lay a blanket of snow across the whole ski area in just 24 hours.
Swiss Valley has stationary and portable snow guns, and this year they are tripling their snow capacity.
The snow guns take pressurized air and water to create the snow if the conditions are right. Weather dependent, the season is set to open in the first week of December.
Jamie Stafne, General Manager says, “I guess people should just remember that just because they don't have that snow on their windowsill doesn't mean that we don't have it. And truly, if you want to come out and go skiing, all you need to bring is a good attitude.”
