Motorcyclist dies from injures in crash

A motorcyclist who was injured in a crash Thursday afternoon died from his injuries later in the day, according to the La Grange County Sheriff’s Department.

The driver of a truck was traveling east on US 20 just west of SR 5, when he stopped to make a left turn into a BP gas station.

Traffic going the opposite direction was also stopped because a vehicle was preparing to make a left turn into the store across the street from the gas station.

Just as the driver of the truck turned into the BP station, a motorcycle traveling in the opposite direction drove around the stopped traffic and struck the truck head on, according to deputies.

The driver of the motorcycle, 20-year-old Erik Morris, was flown by helicopter to a Fort Wayne hospital after the crash.

He died of his injuries late Thursday evening.

The driver of the truck was not injured in the crash and investigation showed he was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs, deputies said.
