Motorist pronounced deceased after striking guard rail, flipping vehicle
NEW PARIS, Ind. -- A motorist was pronounced dead at the scene after a car accident ejected the driver Tuesday afternoon.
According to a crash release from the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office, officers responded to the scene at approximately 1:41 p.m. Feb.19 about 1 mile north of New Paris city limits at 67226 on C.R 21.
According to officials, a 2007 Nissan Sentra was traveling southbound on C.R 21 just north of C.R. 142.
According to a press release, the Sentra lost control, driving off the roadway on the right side and striking a guard rail. The driver was ejected after the vehicle flipped, landing on another guard rail.
Officials say, the driver was pronounced dead on the scene.
The identity of the driver has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
The driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, authorities say.
There were no reported passengers or witnesses.
