Multiple deputies injured after shots fired in incident in Denver suburb

DENVER, CO. --UPDATE-- The Douglas County Sheriff's Office tweeted saying "Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance resulting in shots fired. 5 deputies shot by suspect. 1 deputy confirmed deceased. 2 civilians also shot by suspect. Suspect shot & believed to be dead & no longer a threat."

Multiple deputies were injured Sunday morning after shots were fired following a domestic call in a Denver suburb.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office are advising residents in the area to seek shelter until further notice.

There is no immediate information on the condition of the deputies, but the Sheriff's office tweeted saying "the scene remains active."

The incident occurred at the Copper Canyon Apartments in Highlands Ranch, which is about 20 miles south of Denver.

A Code Red was sent out regarding the incident. Police are ordering citizens in the affected area to go to a instructed shelter, avoid windows and stay away from exterior walls.

The sheriff's office says "due to the size and cope of this investigation an emergency shelter has been set up."
