Multiple semi crash closes southbound I-65 Monday morning
JASPER COUNTY, Ind. -- Indiana State Police responded to a three semi crash on I-65 Monday morning near the 205 mile marker.
A Freightliner pulling an empty flatbed trailer, driven by Zachery McGuire, 28, was stopped in the right lane due to backup from a previous crash.
Directly behind McGuire was another Freightliner pulling a box trailer was being driven by Ikhtiyor Sulaymanov, 27.
Due to reasons unknown, another Freightliner driven by Willie Brown, 56, failed to slow down and stop.
Brown then hit the end of Sulaymanov’s trailer.
This then caused Sulaymanov to rear end McGuire’s trailer.
All three semis were then pushed into the right shoulder and debris covered the lanes.
McGuire was treated at the scene and released with minor injuries.
Sulaymanov was taken to Jasper County Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Brown was transported via air by IU Lifeline and sustained multiple injuries.
Southbound traffic was diverted until about 8 a.m. Monday morning.
