Nappanee accepting sculpture submissions for upcoming festival

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. – Nappanee is looking for artists to be featured in the downtown area for this year’s upcoming festival.

According to our reporting partners at The Elkhart Truth, the theme for this year's 'Le Tour De Nappanee' is bicycles, and artists are asked to create custom sculptures to be put on display.

In previous year’s, local artists were commissioned to create sculptures, but the Nappanee Arts Council says this year all are welcome to make an entry.

“We’re going to be putting them downtown, in all the flower gardens, and if we surpass that, we’ll be putting them in parking lots where there is greenery,” said Jeff Stillson, president of the Nappanee Arts Council.

Artists must use bicycles in their exhibits, either as a whole or through parts.

Sculptures may also use materials that resemble a bicycle as well, and finished works must be able to withstand all weather conditions.

Entries for the festival are free, and will be accepted until the first of May.
