National Night Out event
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The South Bend Police Department will be hosting their free National Night Out event on August 3 at their department’s location, 701 West Sample Street.
The public is invited to attend this event from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to enjoy refreshments, entertainment, and activities that include a rock-climbing wall.
The South Bend Police Department will have its SWAT, K9 and Bomb units at the event with over 40 tables of safety information to offer learning opportunities to attendees.
This National Night Out event began nationwide in 1984 to promote getting citizens interested in crime prevention activities and strengthen police-community partnerships.
For this night, residents are asked to turn on their home or porch lights at 9 p.m. to show support for the event and promote neighborhood safety.
