ND softball takes a swing at cancer

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Notre Dame Softball team took a swing at cancer after presenting
Memorial Hospital in South Bend and presented them with a check over $25,355.

The check is in honor of head coach Deanna Gumpf's daughter Tatum. Tatum is undergoing treatment for pediatric leukemia.

"When you walk through those doors you just known that you will do anything to help your children get better and this is my way of giving back, and I want to give back," Grumpf said.

Donations were collected at the team's second annual Notre Dame Strike Out for Cancer event which raises money for pediatric luekemia.

Notre Dame has raised more money than any other school in the nation for the past two years.
