ND uplifting athletes hosts first event

NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- You will not see his uniform on the field at Note Dame Stadium but Sam Grewe is very much a part of the Fighting Irish Football Team.

Sam Grewe was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer when he was just 13.

Now, The Notre Dame chapter of Uplifting Athletes is hosting the first event to raise money for Sam and for other kids with osteosarcoma.

"We all made a promise, that he would be our brother. It goes beyond football, it goes beyond this season," said ND defensive lineman Grant Patton.

The chapter's hosting the bowling event in Mishawaka this Sunday at Strike and Spare.
