DOWAGIAC, Mich. – Tonight police are still investigating a deadly shooting in Dowagiac. It happened just before nine Saturday night, leaving neighbors in disbelief.
Police say the initial call came in saying a female had been shot by her husband.
When officers arrived they found a 49-year-old woman who had been shot and a 41-year-old man dead at the scene. The woman was taken to the hospital but pronounced dead shortly after arriving there.
Police say they don’t think anyone else is involved, but the whole thing is leaving neighbors surprised.
“Their kid was always outside. I’ve never really seen the mother and father outside or nothing. They’ve always kept to themselves more or less,” Mark Simpson who lives nearby said. “Yeah real surprised... That something like this would happen.”
Police are now asking anyone with information on the case to give them a call at (269)782-9743 or the Cass County Tip Line at (800)462-9328.
