Nelson Mandela turns 94

Former South African President Nelson Mandela turns 94.

The Nobel Peace Prize winner is having a private birthday bash at his home. Mandela spent 27 years in prison after being convicted of sabotage under South Africa's apartheid regime.

He was released in 1990 and became president in 1994.

In 2009, the United Nations designated his birthday as ”Nelson Mandela International Day.”
