A new business has opened in Cass County.
Thursday at noon was the official ribbon-cutting for "Hidden Treasures" in Dowagiac.
"Hidden Treasures" carries a variety of things, ranging from handmade jewelry to body scrub or even wood workings.
The store is a family affair according to owners Douglas and Ernestine Matthews.
"When we bought it we wanted it to be a family thing. My son-in-law, daughter, and two granddaughters all have booths here," said Ernestine Matthews.
She says the family also put a lot of time and work into helping set up the store.
There are 25 spaces in all but right now there are only four empty spaces available rent.
“They rent a booth from us and bring your stuff in it, run it through our cash register, we pay you the money plus the sales tax, you pay your own sales tax,” Matthews said.
This is a place where people who want to sale their crafts and handmade products can come as well as those looking to buy.
“I'm looking for fine china or things that I can put in a dining room, not that I need anymore things to set around but that's what I like, said Pat Hallowell, a friend of Matthews.
The store is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
