New charity's mission is to keep Michiana warm

MISHAWAKA, Ind.--Monday, a new charity is well on its way to changing lives across Michiana.

It's called "Ray of Life" and it's mission is to keep children and adults warm throughout the winter.

The charity's first program is called "Coat 4 Coat." Here is how it works, for each coat a customer buys it will donate the same coat.

Organizers dropped by our ABC 57 studios on Monday and told us that it's a personal mission.

Kristee Novak with the charity said, "Ray of Life is in honor of our grandfather, Raymond Stump
who lived in Mishawaka all of his life.  We started it in honor of him because he had a very giving spirit and he was always a very giving man.

The first coats collected will be given to The Boys and Girls Club.
