Immigration Enforcement, Senate Enrolled Act 76
Clarifies and strengthens Indiana's immigration enforcement policies. Local governments must comply with immigration detainer requests and employers can face penalties for hiring people without work authorization.
Military Police Force, House Enrolled Act 1343
The Indiana National Guard can establish a military police force with the governor's authorization. Allows arrests, searches and seizures and other police powers.
Criminalizing Homeless Camping, Senate Enrolled Act 285
Makes camping, sleeping, or using state-owned land for long-term shelter a misdemeanor.
Criminalizing Doxing, Senate Enrolled Act 140
Makes it illegal to post someone's personal information online with the intent to cause them harm.
Release of Violent Felon Notices, House Enrolled Act 1250
Requires the department of correction to electronically notify, at least seven days in advance, the: (1) county sheriff; (2) prosecuting attorney; and (3) chief of police; of the county or municipality into which the department will release a serious violent felon.
Victim Impact Statements, Senate Enrolled Act 9
Requires a defendant to be present in the courtroom while a victim makes a statement concerning the crime and the sentence, unless the defendant presents a safety risk or causes a significant disruption.
