New Paris Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony schedule

NEW PARIS, Ind. - The New Paris Chamber of Commerce and the New Paris Boy Scouts, Troop 12, will host the annual Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony on Sunday, May 26.

The parade will start at 2 p.m., from Main and Market Streets and will proceed to the New Paris/Jackson Township Cemetery.

Organizers say anyone who wants to be in the parade is welcome and encouraged to do so.

The New Paris Lions Club will provide a parade float for any veterans who wish to ride and participate.

The ceremony will start around 2:15 p.m., at the New Paris/Jackson Township Cemetery.

The ceremony will feature a keynote address by veteran Kenny Holmes.

New Paris Boy Scouts, Troop 12, will present and raise the colors and the Goshen Veterans Honor Guard will provide a rifle salute.

A flyover is also planned, weather permitting.

Families of veterans who have passed in the year preceding will be honored at the ceremony.

In case of severe weather, the parade will be canceled, and the ceremony will move to Grace Bible Baptist Church.

A complimentary community ice cream social will be held immediately following the ceremony at the Sunnyside Park pavilion. Organizers add that sugar-free, gluten-free, and nut-free cookies and ice cream options will be available.
