New playground celebration at Weston Park on May 29

Elkhart Parks and Recreation

ELKHART, Ind. -- The public is invited to celebrate the newly completed playground at Weston Park on Thursday, May 29.

The event is from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and the dedication ceremony will begin at 5 p.m. There will be a planting of two new trees to mark the special occasion.

Throughout the year, six playgrounds will be upgraded or newly built across Elkhart, providing play opportunities for all families. These playgrounds will be safe for children of all ages.

“These spaces bring our community together, support healthy lifestyles, and create opportunities for families and neighbors to connect. By enhancing our parks, we’re building a brighter, more vibrant future for everyone who calls Elkhart home.” said Mayor Rod Roberson.

The celebration is the first of many dedications that will take place throughout the summer, featuring free hot dog meals for the first 100 guests and free Kona Ice provided for everyone.

The ceremony at Weston Park is free and open to the public, sponsored by Cappy's North Side Bar and Grill.

A complete list of upcoming playground upgrades and photos is available in the city’s interactive New Playgrounds Flipbook.
