Elkhart County police continue to investigate a crash that killed a motorcyclist

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a crash that turned fatal for a motorcyclist at the intersection of C.R. 17 and C.R. 38.

Elkhart County Dispatch confirmed a call came in at 1:17 p.m.

A motorcycle was traveling north at high speeds on C.R. 17, approaching the 4-way intersection of C.R. 17 and C.R. 38, police said.

The motorcycle crashed into the back of a semi as the semi was traveling south and attempting to turn east bound onto C.R. 38 from C.R. 17, reports said.

The motorcycle driver, 27-year-old Dallas Yoder of Goshen, was taken to a Fort Wayne hospital for serious bodily injury and third-degree burns where he later was pronounced dead.

The driver of the semi was not hurt in the incident.

This crash is still under investigation with the Crash Investigation Team. The driver of the motorcycle was not cited at the scene.

Yoder was reported to have been wearing a helmet.
