Niles Community School teachers facing pay cuts

NILES, Mich.--Teachers at Niles Community Schools are facing pay cuts.

The district opened up its contract negotiations with the Niles Teacher's Union earlier this week, asking teachers to accept an 8 percent pay cut to their base salary and caps on insurance costs.

The board is offering the teachers union a signing bonus of $4.1 million for the rest of the school year, and next year to be used however they want.
