Niles Community Schools Encourages Summer Reading through Series of Annual Pop-Up Libraries

NILES, Mich. -- Niles Community Schools is encouraging reading through a series of Pop-up Libraries across the community in July and August.

The Pop-up Libraries were created to combat learning loss during the summer break, as the average student can lose anywhere between 17 and 34 percent of the prior year’s learning gains during the summer months.

At each Pop-up Library, children can receive a book of their choice and a free meal funded by the State of Michigan’s Meet Up and Eat Up program.

The dates, times and locations for the Pop-Up Libraries are included below:

  • Tuesday, July 12 from 11 to 11:30 a.m. at Niles High School, 1441 Eagle St.
  • Thursday, July 14 from 11 to 11:30 a.m. at Niles Administration & Education Center, 1 Tyler St.
  • Tuesday, July 26 from 11 to 11:30 a.m. at Eastside Park, Sycamore and N. 17th
