Niles District Library and History Center presents Fredrick Douglass exhibit
NILES, Mich. -- The Niles District Library and History Center are hosting a Frederick Douglass: Advocate for Equality traveling exhibit.
This exhibit begins on Sept. 9 through Oct. 4 and will feature six panels from the Gilder Lehrman collection.
The program will explore the full trajectory of Douglass's life from 1818 to 1895, analyzing his work as an abolitionist and his inspiring fight for equality.
A Niles artist and activist, Lottie Wilson, will be recognized for her artwork done of Fredrick Douglass as well as her other art with one piece being put on display at the library. Wilson was an active member in national suffrage organizations and fought for the same causes as Douglass.
The Niles History Center Director, Christina Arseneau, will present the Activism and Art program that will examine the life of Lottie Wilson and the writings of Fredrick Douglass starting at 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 9.
