Niles veterinarian gets probation for abusing animal drugs

NILES, Mich. -- The Niles veterinarian accused of abusing medicines meant for animals has been sentenced to 18 months probation.

39-year-old Kimberly Morrow, of Elkhart, was charged with the false reporting of a controlled substance. Morrow appeared Monday in Berrien County Drug Court in Niles.

Employees at Morrow's "Gentle Doctor Clinic" in Niles say they started to notice some medications missing and then found them in Morrow's desk.

They claim she was also sleeping in a lab room and abusing drugs. Morrow pleaded guilty to the charges early last month. She faced a possible maximum four-year prison sentence.

In addition to the probation, Morrow was sentenced to two days in jail, with credit for two days’ time already served.
