NIPSCO planning spring construction on Cleveland Road to begin March 10

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO) and its contractors, announced on Friday they are scheduled to begin construction on their part of the Cleveland and Beech Roads roundabout project.
The company will relocate its facilities within the limits of the roundabout project starting Monday, March 10, with work continuing daily through the spring season.
The project is currently planned to be complete by late May or early June.
"During this time crew will be working within the roadway, lanes will be restricted (closed) as crews progress. Traffic will be controlled through these restricted areas either by flaggers or temporary traffic signals which some may have encountered at other NIPSCO work sites within our community," a NIPSCO spokesperson said.
"This condition is to be expected daily during normal working hours so delays are to be anticipated. During evening hours the lane closures will be pulled and Cleveland Road would be open then to unrestricted travel, other than the fact the area is still a road construction site."
Organizers say the project limits for Cleveland Road extend west of Beech Road approximately 500' and east of Beech Road for approximately 1200 feet.
For Beech Road, the limits extend approximately 500 feet in each direction both north and south.
"The restrictions will be experienced throughout these limits as the work progresses from one end to the other," a NIPSCO spokesperson said.
"As a side note, or advance notice, once NIPSCO crews have completed there work, Rieth-Riley Construction will then mobilize their crews and begin construction of the roundabout which will include a complete closure of the intersection for a few months. Details on this phase of the project will be provided once NIPSCO crews are near completion and firm dates can be set.
"We ask that motorists exercise patience and courtesy to the workers on site and again caution all that there are to be delays expected along Cleveland Road between Buckeye Road and Ash Road along with Beech Road from the south end of the bridge over the Toll Road to roughly 500 to 700 feet south of Cleveland Road. Motorists may choose to seek an alternate route during the next few months to avoid any inconvenience."
