SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The defending National Champion Notre Dame Men's Lacrosse team began the 2024 NCAA Tournament on Sunday with a 14-9 win of the University of Albany at Arlotta Stadium.
The win punches the team's ticket to the quarterfinals and keeps the dream of back-to-back national titles alive for another week.
Defending national champion Notre Dame came out a bit slow, surrendering a 5-4 lead to Albany in the first half before overpowering the Great Danes, 10-4, in the final 30 minutes.
No. 1 Notre Dame will face No. 8 Georgetown in Long Island this Saturday with the winner advancing to Championship Weekend in Philadelphia over Memorial Day Weekend.
The Irish finished the regular season with a record of 10-1, with the one loss coming on Feb. 25, in overtime, to Georgetown.
ABC57's LeVon Whittaker was at the game and was able to chat with head coach Kevin Corrigan and attacker Chris Kavanagh. See what they had to say in the video above.
