Notre Dame alum assumes command of The Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program
A University of Notre Dame graduate recently assumed command of The Navy Nuclear Propulsion Program. Admiral Bill Houston became the 8th director on January 10.
Houston is a native of Buffalo, New York, and graduated from Notre Dame in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He also has a Master of Business Administration degree from the College of William and Mary.
He most recently served as Commander, Naval Submarine Forces, Commander Submarine Force, U.S. Atlantic Fleet, and Commander, Allies Submarine Forces
The Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program oversees all aspects of the branch’s nuclear force, including the research, design, testing and use of naval nuclear propulsion plants. Right now, the program operates 96 reactors.
