Notre Dame alum brigadier general dies in Afghanistan

NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- The Notre Dame community is mourning the loss of one of their own.

Irish graduate, and an Army brigadier general died in Afghanistan last Friday. The U.S. Army said Terence Hildner died of natural causes.

Hildner was stationed at Fort Hood in Texas. He left for Afghanistan in December. He is the highest-ranking officer to die in Afghanistan.

The Connecticut native graduated from Notre Dame in 1984. He was 49-years-old.
