Notre Dame beats North Carolina 44-34

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the North Carolina Tar Heels played a relentless game of cat and mouse Saturday night at Notre Dame Stadium.

Notre Dame made the first touchdown of the game in the first quarter as North Carolina left the quarter empty handed.

The second quarter started with the Tar Heels making a touchdown tying the game up 7-7. 

Both teams would go on to trade field goals tying the game yet again 10-10.

The Irish tried to pull ahead with another touchdown but North Carolina narrowed the lead 13-17 with a field goal going into halftime.

The game of cat and mouse continued in the second half as the Tar Heels made a touchdown only to have the Fighting Irish answer with a touchdown of their own soon after.

Notre Dame followed up with yet another touchdown but North Carolina clapped back with the same as they tried to hold on 27-31 going into the fourth quarter.

The Irish took the lead for most of the fourth making a touchdown followed up by a field goal.

North Carolina made one more touchdown but in the end it wasn't enough as Notre Dame won 44-34.
