Notre Dame brings message of hardwork to Perley students before ISTEPs

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- On Friday, some Notre Dame athletes had an important message for South Bend elementary students.

"Work! Hard! Work! Hard!"

The kids at Perley Primary heard it loud and clear!

About 30 Notre Dame athletes stopped by the school Friday afternoon. They played sports with the kids and even ran an obstacle course.

They also taught them a thing or two about dedication and listening.

"It's very easy to fall into the trap of not believing in yourself. Having people who constantly tell them that they are worth something and that they can do whatever they want is really important for their overall development,” said Tommy Chase, a shortstop for the Notre Dame Baseball Team.

The principal promised to bring back the inflatable obstacle course if students do well on their ISTEP tests in March.
