Notre Dame commit arrested for burglary will no longer play football

DANVILLE, Ky. -- A football player from Kentucky who planned on attending Notre Dame was arrested for stealing guns and a car on Friday.

Police say that Landen Bartleson, 18, was arrested for stealing nine guns and a car from a gun range on Friday.

Bartleson was a Notre Dame commit with a scholarship to play football at Notre Dame.

“After reviewing all of the fact available to us and speaking with the Bartleson family, we informed them that Landen will no longer be welcomed as a member of our football program. This incident is very much out of character for the man we have come to know and we wish Landen and his family well," said Notre Dame Head Coach Brian Kelley in a statement Saturday.

Bartleson and two juveniles were charged with burglary, criminal mischief and receiving stolen property.
