Notre Dame Football looks to stay undefeated in the Shamrock Series with a win over #16 BYU.
SOUTH BEND, Ind – The Irish will face BYU for the ninth time with hopes of getting their season on the right track with a win over a ranked opponent.
Facing BYU will be the third time that Notre Dame will face a ranked opponent in their well-known Shamrock Series.
“We’ve got our work cut out for us but again as much as we can focus on ourselves, that’s going to be our emphasis,” said Offensive Coordinator Tommy Rees.
After a big win over North Carolina, Notre Dame says they're emphasizing the preparation that put them in position to score six touchdowns in the 45-32 victory.
“That’s definitely a big confidence booster and a game that we’re definitely going to build off of,” Running Back Audric Estime mentioned.
“It’s definitely exciting to see all the hard work kind of pay off but at the end of the day we all came to agreement you can never be satisfied with the performance,” Offensive Lineman Jarrett Patterson added.
A big performance this weekend would put the Irish in position to possibly reclaim a spot in the top 25 ranking, but the challenge will be playing the ranked opponent out of the bye week.
“I think the bye week it kind of helps us focus on the things that we all need to individually work on,” Patterson said.
“As a whole, I think this is really where everything takes shape in country. Not only us but everybody. This is the home stretch for us, so you take it one play at a time, you do the best you can to execute, you play as hard as you can, and you focus on improving,” Defensive Coordinator Al Washington mentioned.
The improvement and a win could move the Irish to 11-0 in the Shamrock Series, while taking them to 3 and 2 this season.
